Aerospace Europe Conference 2023: A Sustainable Event

At EUCASS and CEAS, we take sustainability to heart, especially when it comes to our events, which is why we are pleased to share the steps being taken by our hosts at EPFL and the SwissTech Convention Center (STCC) to make the Aerospace Europe Conference 2023 as sustainable as possible.

Sustainability is one of the core values of EPFL, which extends to the events that the school hosts. EPFL recognizes the impact that events can have on the environment and has taken measures to reduce this impact and create events with positive economic and social impacts. This commitment to sustainable events is taken seriously by the STCC, located on the EPFL campus, which is one of the most sustainable congress centers in the world.

Both EPFL and STCC prioritize sustainability by EPFL encouraging the use of public transportation and biking as a means of transportation to events, which helps reduce carbon emissions. STCC uses water from Lake Geneva to heat and cool its buildings and has installed 15,000 m2 of solar panels on its roof. In addition, they calculate their CO2 emissions annually and have signed the Net Zero Carbon Events Initiative.

EPFL also promotes sustainability through the use of eco-friendly materials, such as reusable cups and plates. In addition, the university also has a waste management system that promotes recycling and composting, reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills. Overall, the commitment of EPFL and STCC to sustainable events demonstrates their dedication to environmental stewardship and leadership in sustainable practices. By continuously refining their sustainability practices, EPFL and STCC setting an example for other organizations to follow and contributing to a more sustainable future.
